Beth Moore. Travis Cottrell. Tonight in Rapid City!
I’ve been thinking about this Living Proof Live conference for months. In fact, my friend Jana called me last year to tell me Beth was coming to Rapid this year. We both cheered together, thinking of the wonderful and glorious times we’ve experienced at her conferences in the past and anticipating this one. Although I enjoy many different bible teachers and have been blessed by all the conferences I’ve attended in my life, Beth is one of my favorites.
I’ve been pondering my excitement surrounding this event all day today. I woke up early this morning (4:15, to be exact) to tell Brent goodbye for the weekend. I’m really sad he won’t be here, because he is my best friend and I miss him when he’s gone. But my enthusiasm related to the weekend ahead overshadowed the usual sadness in me that he would not be here. Not only that, I could not go back to sleep this morning. Now I can usually go back to sleep ANY morning, especially mornings I am awakened much before 7:00. (No, I am NOT a morning person.) But not today!
So what is getting me going today? HEAVEN! Seriously. I’ve been thinking today about why I am so excited about tonight and tomorrow. It’s all because of Jesus. I will be with my wonderful and precious peeps all weekend worshipping Jesus, through the Word and through songs of praise and adoration. What could be better? Well, not much in my opinion! Soooo…. if this is a taste of the eternity (after this relatively-speaking “brief” earthly life) I will enjoy, what am I consumed with on a daily basis that keeps me from this kind of joy more often and more consistently? Heaven is coming …. sooner than later! That’s what the Bible says. It will be filled with worshippers and the One we worship will be center stage. HOLY WOW!! (stealing a phrase that my daddy recently coined.)
Yes LORD Yes! I am ready for this weekend. It’s gonna be wonderful. I know it is because I’ve experienced YOU whenever I’m with Your worshippers in spirit and truth. The majority of women who come to these conferences are ready. They are seeking Your face. That’s why You show up. Open my heart to YOU this day and this weekend. Open the hearts of all of us who will attend.
But more than that, bring me into greater awareness of the reality of heaven. With that awareness, may I live in joy and excitement about YOU more daily. May I look for opportunities to build relationships with those who don’t know You that they may worship You with me for all of eternity….
Turn my eyes upon Jesus … may I look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim. In the light of His glory and grace.
