“And after six days Jesus took with Him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them, and His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became white as light. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with Him. And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.”

Oh how I love Peter – he’s so honest and yet so impulsive! I feel a little like him this week. I have so enjoyed my Bible study time this week. It has been such a blessing to me. I have recently started a Precepts’ study through the book of Ephesians. This study, along with my small group study I’m involved in weekly, hold me accountable to being in God’s word on a consistent basis. I wish I was more disciplined to just study diligently without needing an accountability group, but so far in my Christian walk it helps to have some people “with skin on”, holding my feet to the fire!

This week has been so refreshing, illuminating and inspiring – studying God’s Word and praying through it. Last night I was thinking how “great” it would be to enjoy hours of study in God’s word without distractions, people, and the circumstances of life getting in the way of the excitement I feel when I’m engrossed in His Word! …. and then I came to my senses. 🙂

His Word IS personal and so relevant to my life. It’s also filled with truth that challenges me. But as I study and learn, and my heart is filled and enlightened to God’s living truths, the way it transforms me is the fleshing it out in day to day living. The distractions and people and circumstances of life – this is where the Word will take form. It’s where it really comes to life. How is the LIVING WORD lived out in me?!
As I was thinking about this morning, I remembered an old song that Amy Grant used to sing. It says exactly what came to my mind when “I came to my senses.”

I love to sing and I love to pray, worship the Lord most every day.
I go to the temple, and I just want to stay to hide from the hustle of the world and its ways.
And I’d love to live on a mountain top, fellowshipping with the Lord.
I’d love to stand on a mountain top, ’cause I love to feel my spirit soar!
But I’ve got to come down from the mountain top to the people in the valley below;
Or they’ll never know that they can go to the mountain of the Lord.

Now praising the Father is a good thing to do, to worship the Trinity in spirit and truth.
But if we worshipped all of the time, there would be no one to lead the blind.
Yes, I’d love to live on a mountain top just fellowshipping with the Lord.
And I’d love to stand on a mountain top, ’cause I love to feel my spirit soar.
But I’ve got to come dow from the mountain top to the people in the valley below;
Or they’ll never know that they can go to the mountain of the Lord.


I am not saying that worship is wrong, but worship is more than just singin’ some songs.
‘Cause it’s all that we say and everything that we do; it’s letting God’s Spirit live through you.
Still, I’d love to live on a mountain top just fellowshipping with the Lord.
