Fixing my Gaze …

And let us run with patient endurance the race that lies before us, simply fixing our gaze upon Jesus, our Prince Leader in the faith, who will also award us the prize. He, for the sake of the joy which lay before Him, patiently endured the cross, looking with contempt upon its shame, and afterwards seated Himself– where He still sits–at the right hand of the throne of God.       (Heb 12:1, Weymouth NT)

Worship is really “simply fixing our gaze upon Jesus”, isn’t it? I mean, if in everything I do, I look to Jesus for help, for strength, for wisdom, for the right attitude – that IS worship no matter what I’m doing. I read these words this morning in my devotional book:
“… learn from the example of the wise men who followed the leading of a spectacular star, then fell down in humble worship. Gaze in silent adoration. Look for the Star of guidance in your own life and be willing to follow wherever …”
Indeed, praise and worship are the best response to the wonder of Jesus – the Light of the World.

Oh great Light of the World, come to impart the light of Your grace to fill up my heart!
Come with Your Light … come with Your Strength to fill up my soul!
Yes, impart the light of Your grace to fill up my heart!

(Bebo Norman lyrics)
