MY PERSON |
So, using scripture, here’s what I’m praying for my hubby:
HIS MIND/THOUGHTS (Wisdom)
The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man’s judgment.
For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
1 Cor 2
HIS EYES (What he should and what he shouldn’t see)
HIS EARS (Listening and learning)
Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger. James 1
HIS MOUTH/WORDS (Sound teaching and kind words)
Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment. For we all stumble in many ways If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well. James 3
Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Eph 4
HIS HEART (Purity and authenticity before God and man)
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Pm 51
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Mt 5
HIS “RIBS” (Unhindered prayers and a commitment to marriage)
So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man He made into a woman and brought her to the man. Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Gen 2
Husbands, in the same way, treat your wives with consideration as the weaker partners and show them honor as fellow heirs of the grace of life. In this way nothing will hinder your prayers. 1 Pet 3
HIS HANDS (Work ethic and generosity)
Aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one. 1 Thess 4
HIS KNEES (Persistent and consistent prayer life)
Now when Daniel knew that the document was signed, he entered his house (now in his roof chamber he had windows open toward Jerusalem); and he continued kneeling on his knees three times a day, praying and giving thanks before his God, as he had been doing previously. Dan 6
HIS FEET (Continual witness and gospel living)
And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news! Rom 10
Yes, my heart’s desire is to give my hubby a most valuable gift: my constant prayers. And as I plead for him to maintain spiritual health from head to toe, I pray for myself to have the faith to believe God for these things, knowing that the rewards are eternal!
