OK …. I was going to comment on Tanya’s blog, and decided to just post. I went to a conference this past weekend and God taught me so much. I wanted to “Amen” the thoughts on sharing our message of hope with people more than we do (more that I do!) It all got me thinking about something that the Bible teachers said this weekend in the question/answer time. This may me new to some of you bloggers, but there is a dangerous false message being proclaimed today through authors and “teachers” who proclaim that they’ve found THE SECRET. A question was given to the Bible teachers (Kay Arhur, Beth Moore, and Priscilla Shirer) to answer about this new message that is being spread ….

Recently on Oprah, she had a panel who said they’ve discovered THE SECRET! What’s so dangerous is that it’s not the TRUTH! I decided that if people are so quick to unashamedly share what they believe to be THE SECRET with people, why don’t believers share what we KNOW to be the truth with those we know and love. I also have been convicted about not speaking up … not so much with seekers of Christ, but with believers who need to GO DEEPER. It’s time to step up and challenge each other. Are we ready to move forward and follow hard after our wonderful God! Are we ready to grow and know God’s Word that we may not be led away by false teachers and those who are preaching another gospel?

Anway, I read this passage in The Message and was blown away by the wording, in light of Oprah’s most recent attempt to find the Truth, the Way, and the Life. She is such a seeker, but continues to look in all the wrong places for that hope and deep fulfillment she longs for.

Listen to this (Col. 2:2-4): “I want you woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God. Then you will have minds confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God’s great mystery. All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else. And we’ve been shown the mystery! I’m telling you this because I don’t want anyone leading you off on some wild-goose chase, after other so-called mysteries, or “the Secret.”

WOW!!!! and more WOW! Today in 2007, God’s word speaks so clearly to us about false teaching and what is out there. For thousands of years everyone has been wanting to know THE SECRET ….. but they continue to look within for a god within themselves. People have always thought (since Adam and Eve) that if we could just be god, then everything would be better — it always ends up badly when we try to be god!

Thank you Father for Your true and faithful word. In You Alone, I have all that I have ever really wanted or needed. Thanks, that as believers, we have found Christ, God’s great mystery – I pray for those who are searching for You without knowing it …. that they, too, will find YOU, the one and only God. Amen
